A poem from Whisky & Buck
Once I was a breeding dog, just dreaming of a good home.I had no place to go no one to call my own.I wandered if I would ever be loved ,and if
anyone would take the time to know .My food wasn't that good,so I ate kinda slow .My skin would itch, my feet were sore , my body ached with pain .
And no one stopped to give a pat or gently say my name.I never saw a loving glance, I was all ways on the run, for people thought that hurting me
was really lots of fun. And then one day i heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet .And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet
no one again will hurt you was whispered in my ear. You'll have a home to call your own where You'll know no fear. You will be dry, you will be
warm,You'll have enough to eat and rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will be sweet,"i was afraid i must admit, I've lived so long in
fear. I can't  remember when i let a human come so near. And as she tended my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur she told me about this
rescue group and what it meant to her. She said we are a circle,a line that never ends .And in the center there is you protected by new friends and
all around you are the ones that check the pounds and those that share their homes after you've been found. And all the other folk we're
searching near and far. To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star she said there is a family , that's waiting patiently, and pretty
soon You'll find them, just you wait and see and then they'll join our circle they'll help to make it grow,so there'll be room for more like you who have
no place to go. I waited very  patiently, the days they came and went. Today's the day i thought , my family would be sent ,  then just when i began
to think it wasn't meant to be ,there were people standing there just gazing down at me. I knew them in a heart beat, i could tell they felt it too, they
said we've been waiting for a special dog like you  now  every night i say a prayer to all the gods that be thank you  for the life i live and all you've
given me. But most of all protect the dogs in the  pound and on the street. And send a rescue person to lift them off their feet.....
Thanks so much. Dave and Heidi
Great News Gretel made it to rescue
just  in time she was transported on
Saturday and gave birth on Sunday to
8 puppy's.All pups have been adopted
to new loving homes
Adopted 7/22/07We just wanted you to know that
Willow is doing great in her new home.  She has
gained weight and is actually growing in a shiny
sheltie coat. She favors my 7 year old daughter and
loves curling up on the couch with her.  After
looking on line on petfinder and seeing all the
dogs that need homes we started fostering
puppies for  a local rescue group.  Willow  has
found her calling, she plays with the puppies
nonstop.   Here is a picture of Willow and her new
brothers at Christmas
Madge and Agnus- partners in crime
Hi Sandy,
Just wanted to fill you  in on the little ladies. They are doing
well. Slowly but surely they are becoming friendlier. Madge
loves to play with toys. They both wiggle and bark at me and
will come over to sniff me. Madge can be picked up - Agnus
prefers not to be. Madge has had two baths since arriving- not
her favorite thing. They both LOVE to torture my guinea pig- I
had to put it up on a table. I am pretty sure they think it is a
snack. I tried them both on a leash- that did not go well but no
rush- none of us are going anywhere anyway. I took some
pictures- when I get them on CD I will send them to you. :)
Hope you had a great Christmas. The ladies got toys and
milkbones wrapped in bologna. They LOVED it.

Adopted  Snowflake was found by a
lady and kept her indoors. She did
very well. No one has contacted the
shelter about this girl. She is older, but
we are not sure how old. Snowflake
needs a forever home or rescue.
Snowflake MUST be spayed, if not
already, PRIOR to private adoption.
NO EXCEPTIONS. This can be paid
upfront and taken care of before she
goes to a forever home. Very sweet
girl.
This Thanksgiving I'm particularily thankful for
those who helped get Roo from WV to me. I
continue to give thanks for Roo as he is quite
the character and I can't imagine my life without
him. My happiness is possible due to caring
people as you all are. I hope the photo comes
through; my scanner made it so dark. Roo's big
sister, Dusty, is on the left and Roo on the right.

Just an update on how things are going here at home. Barker has taken really well to life here in
Florida. It seems hard to believe he has only been a part of our family for just over a month now. It
seems like he has been here forever. Everyone in the family just loves him to pieces. He is an absolute
love and has the biggest heart.
He is no longer sliding on the floors. He has learned to maneuver them just fine. He has complete
access to the house just like the other boys. They are in and out all day long into the yard. He tells us
when he has to go out. He picked out his own spot for his food dish to be set at dinnertime and eats
the same things the other boys eat. Bear has accepted that he is not always growling at him anymore
so he has stopped growling back. Bear and Docker wait for him to come in and out with them when
they go out or come in. In fact, Docker and Barker are inseparable while Bear and Barker are very
good friends. They even sleep in the same area at night now.
He likes to be a thief if we are not watching and will run off with socks. However, we find them. He is too
funny though as he looks to see if we are watching him before he takes the socks. He knows darn well
what he is doing!
I wish our door could be open to more boys/girls like Barker. However, we have no more space for
now. There is a Beagle Rescue here in the Tampa area that I just learned about after getting Barker. If
you have a lot of Beagles, you may be interested in contacting them. I was told they will take them in til
they can find them a home.
You had asked for a pic. I am sending two in a separate email, one of Barker and one of all three boys:
Bear is our 55 lb Beagle/hound mix, Docker  is our Dachshund and Barker. Enjoy!
Thank you for having Barker on your website Jaime so we could have him join our family. Life/God
works in mysterious ways. You never know when you will be touched by one of His angels. We all have
our time, but Barker's still got some running and living to do here in Florida with his brothers.
God bless all of you and the work you do. You are all one of Gods blessings and angels here on earth.
    Sincerely,
Kathy, Louis, Victoria, Louis' Dad, Bear, Docker and Barker Gonzalez

Champ was abandoned and is in DIRE
need of finding a rescue that will take
him in. He is a very sweet boy that has
probably never known any attention as
he is so matted and stinky no one
probably would have even wanted to
fool with him. We are unsure of his
age, but we are hoping to find the right
place for him. He is a rather large dog
with longer hair that desperately needs
shaved off. Champ is very shy of
strangers but wants to come to them
so badly for attention. Sit down with a
little food in your hand and he will wag
his tail nonstop and will eventually
weasel his way over to you and sniff
you and hit you in the head with his
wagging tail as he walks around you!
He is a very sweet boy that certainly
deserves another chance at life.
Please help Champ find love once and
for all!
Finally made it to rescue
Thanks
Sophie was caught in a
snare trap and needs urgent
help with donations for her
medical care. If you can help
us in any yway, please email
us immediately. The vet says
she may have to have her
leg amputated, but we are
trying soaking and a
medicine for circulation first.
If it doesn't work her leg has
to go and we need help.
There is more to this story
and it will be updated soon,
but for now, we need urgent
donations to help this sweet
girl who is in so much pain.
Please email us immediately
if you can help. Thank you.
Sophie had to have part of her foot
amputated because of the severity of
being caught in the trap. Sophie is
doing very well and has been cleared
for a new home. If you would like to
offer this VERY special girl a home,
please email us soon! We will require a
home visit for Sophie for any private
adopters.
